民進黨主席、總統參選人蔡英文今天參加國慶大會，蔡英文表示，台灣現在面臨一個很困頓的環境，外在和內在挑戰非常多，這是一個國家應該要團結的時候，希望在國慶日大家都能來參加。被問到參加國慶大會的原因，蔡英文說，一方面希望在野黨是不是參加國慶，這個議題從此不再是議題，另一方面國家開始有團結的氣氛，大家可以一起來保護台灣最珍貴的民主和自由，也希望無論選舉進行到什麼程度，國家都能保持團結狀態。根據座位安排，蔡英文坐在國民黨主席朱立倫和親民黨主席宋楚瑜中間，後面則是立法院副院長洪秀柱，蔡英文都有向他們致意，蔡朱兩人因為座位相鄰，頻頻交談、互動熱絡。
